Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award

GEP Brings home a victory as James Nicholas ’04 was selected as the New England Region Champion in The Global Student Entrepreneur™ Awards (www.gsea.org) which annually recognizes those outstanding undergraduate student entrepreneurs who are simultaneously juggling course work and cash flows - and succeeding at both! James will compete against twelve other global winners for a $10,000 prize presented at the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) Conference Nov. 6-8, in Chicago, IL. The Judges of the competition will also award a $3,000 prize for the most innovative business and for making the largest social impact. Also receiving recognition was Christopher Surdi ’05 for his company Phast Cash. Chris was selected as the second runner-up in the New England Region.

“We understand the importance of encouraging entrepreneurship in students. This new generation of risk takers will help create the economic foundation of tomorrow,” said Shannon Bower – Lead Organizer of GSEA. Student winners from the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand compete. They come from different backgrounds and with different business ideas, but they share the determination and creativity common to successful entrepreneurs. Finalists must produce more than just a financially successful business. Their company's quality, service, adaptation to change and social impact are evaluated by an international panel of judges.
